Millstreet nestles at the foot of the Claragh Mountains and is practically surrounded on all sides by hills and mountains. This is an area that is rich in archaeological heritage. It is the location of the renowned Green Glens Equestrian Centre which hosts major international equestrian shows showcasing the work of top European riders. In 1993 the Eurovision Song Contest was broadcast from here to over 300 million viewers throughout Europe – and on that occasion Ireland won the Eurovision Song Contest once again!
Another major attraction is the Millstreet Country Park, a 500 acre environmental park, a must for all visitors to Millstreet. It features Natural boglands and wetland habitats, a sensory garden, archaeological sites and entertainment for younger members of the family. Both marked walking and cycling routes pass through the town.
