Fota Island Golf Club, listed amongst Ireland’s Top 100 golf courses, is Ireland’s Premier Championship Golf Course and is located just a few minutes drive from Cork City’s international airport and passenger ferry terminal. Located in the heart of a 780 acre estate which is included in “The Inventory of Outstanding Landscapes in Ireland”, the splendid woodlands are woven into three challenging championship courses which are very much in the traditional mode, featuring strategically placed bunkers and undulating putting surfaces.
The Clubhouse at Fota Island Golf Club is an extremely creative conversion of old stone farm buildings. The exterior retains the original stonework and classic country feel that merges effortlessly into the surrounding landscape. Inside you will be presented with a luxury that is more like a top-class hotel than a conventional golf clubhouse, with attractively appointed locker rooms and the wonderful ambiance of The Spike Bar.
Being located so close to the city means Fota is ideal for that Ireland golf weekend, and Discovering Cork offers a choice of excellent Cork golf deals that are sure to delight. Irish golf has so many wonderful golfing locations now, but Fota remains at the top of the tree, with a golfing experience that never disappoints.
