For all lovers of horses, beach horse riding is truly a fantastic experience. Join our group at our stables just 15 minutes from city centre. Then we head of for an exhilarating morning on the sand. Youghal beach is a vast expanse of sand that goes as far as the eye can see and is located about an hour from Cork City. Time permitting we will also get to see a little of Youghal (pronounced Yawl) which is an ancient town that still has its medieval walls in tact and is home to the oldest collegiate church in Ireland (the church has been in continuous use since the 1200’s)
The full beach ride caters only for experienced riders and it is 60 Euro per person.
Beach rides take place every Saturday morning (whatever the weather) and pre-booking is essential. Horses are put on the truck and you depart at 10.30. Once you are at the beach you will spend approx 2 hours trekking.
We also do a mini beach ride which takes place at our centre in Hop Island and this is 25 Euro per person and this is suitable for less experienced riders.
Hop Island is located on one of the many small islands in Cork Harbour and offers peace and unusual tranquillity in a rural setting considering its close proximity to the City. At the centre they cater for all levels of horsemanship, and offer the riding enthusiast direction in Dressage, Showjumping, Cross Country, Riding and Hunting (with local hunts in season).
Hop Island Equestrian Centre consists of a large Indoor Arena, an Outdoor Arena, school horse stables, livery stables, pony stalls, a tack room, a feed room, a schooling cross country course which includes jumps, banks and ditches, access to our very own private pebbled coastline and Hop Island House.
