Ballyhoura Country is an walking and mountain biking area rise to the west of the town and the higher Galtee mountains lie to the north-west of the Mitchelstown to Cahir road. An 18 hole Golf Course is also popular with locals and visitors alike and a few miles from the town are the spectacular Mitchelstown Caves.
